MATTHEW QUINN

Matt Quinn, born in New Zealand, made his first-class debut for Auckland and represented New Zealand A before he took advantage of a British passport and won a three-year contract with Essex. He was not an automatic pick in his first season (2016), and he was also hampered by injury, but his potential was evident as he took his Championship wickets at 21 apiece. The highlight came at the Cheltenham Festival where he swung the ball at a decent pace to take six wickets in a 10-over spell, finishing with 7 for 61: he had never taken more than four wickets in a completed innings before.

GRAEME McCARTER

Born in Derry, Graeme McCarter began playing for Ireland at Under-15 level. He joined Gloucestershire's academy in late 2008, and in November 2010 he signed a two-year contract with the club until 2012. He made his One Day International debut for Ireland against Scotland in September 2014. McCarter is currently playing for Cornwall Cricket Club in Hastings, New Zealand as their overseas pro.
